Delhi Election Results 2015 - Seemapuri

Winner Runnerup
Rajendra Pal Gautam (AAP ) Karamvir (BJP )

One of the Delhi's twelve assembly constituencies reserved for the candidates belonging to the scheduled castes, Seemapuri had elected in the last assembly polls in 2013 the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate Dharmendra Singh Koli who won the seat by defeating the sitting Congress MLA Veer Singh Dhingan by a margin of 11976 votes.

While Dharmendra Koli polled 43199 votes, Veer Singh Dhingan who had been representing the Seemapuri constituency since 1998, got 31223 votes and was followed by Ram Pal Singh of the BJP who obtained 24356 votes.

Santosh Kumar, who entered the fray as a candidate of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), slipped to the fourth place with 12501 votes. In the previous assembly election to the seat in 2008, the party candidate Lallan Prasad had come third with 14823 votes. Whereas former UP CM Mayawati led BSP drew a blank in 2013 assembly polls to Delhi, in 2008, the party had won two seats.

Dharmendra Koli, who has been denied ticket by the AAP for the upcoming assembly polls to Delhi in 2015, is brother of Santosh Koli, who was the AAP candidate for the same assembly constituency. Santosh Koli met a road accident near Pacific Mall in Kaushambi in Ghaziabad and after battling for life for 37 days succumbed to injury in a hospital in Gurgaon.

In 2008, Seemapuri, one of the seventy assembly seats in Delhi , was won by Veer Singh Dhingan third time in a row by defeating his nearest BJP candidate by a handsome margin of 19260 votes.

In the previous assembly elections in 2003 elections of Delhi Legislative assembly, Veer Singh Dhingan had claimed the seat for the Congress by defeating the BJP nominee Kamala by a margin of 17090 votes. In 1998 assembly polls, which inaugurated the Sheila Dixit government in Delhi, Seemapuri went in favour of Veer Singh Dhingan who emerged victorious by defeating the BJP member Chander Pal Singh by a margin of 16683 votes.

Balbir Singh was the winner of the Seemapuri assembly seat in the first elections to the Delhi legislative assembly held in 1993. He won the seat by defeating GIRI LAL of the Congress by a margin of just 1762 votes.
