Delhi Election Results 2015 - Trilokpuri

Trilokpuri is one of the 70 assembly constituencies of Delhi. Trilokpuri constituency is reserved for Scheduled Castes (SC). Raju Dhingan (AAP) has won the Assembly election 2015, got 74,907 votes against Kiran Vaidya of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) who has 45,153 votes.

Votes polled on Feb 7 and the results was announced on Feb 10, 2015.

One of the twelve assembly seats reserved for the candidates belonging to the scheduled castes in Delhi, Trilok Puri had elected Raju of the of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in 2013 when he defeated the sitting BJP MLA Sunil Kumar by a margin of 17685 votes.

While Raju polled 44082 votes, Sunil Kumar received 26397 votes. Harnam Singh, who contested on the ticket of the Congress, came third with 19774 votes and was followed by Vijay Pal of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) with 16099 votes.

In the previous assembly elections in 2008, Sunil Kumar had defeated his nearest Congress rival Anjana Parcha by a slender margin of 634 votes. In that election while Sunil Kumar secured 30781 votes, Anjana Parcha, a councilor from the same area, got 30147 votes. Ganga Ram of the BSP came third with 19417 votes. In 2008 the BSP had won two seats. However, the party failed to open its account in 2013.

Brahm Pal of Congress has won the Trilok Puri seat for three times in a row (1993, 1998 and 2003). In 2003 assembly polls he had won the seat for Congress by defeating Sunil Kumar by 6215 votes. Brahm Pal and Sunil Kumar received 26469 and 20254 votes respectively. Brahm Pal was denied party ticket for 2008 election.

In the first assembly elections to the Delhi legislative assembly in 1993, Trilok Puri was won by Brahm Pal had defeated Ram Charan Gujrati of the BJP by a margin of 2855 votes. While Brahm Pal received 17844 votes, 14989 votes were polled in favour of the BJP nominee. In the next assembly elections held in 1998, which inaugurated the Sheila Dixit led Congress government in Delhi, Brahm Pal once again defeated Ram Charan Gujrati by 4771 votes.

Trilok Puri is one of the ten assembly constituencies that unite to form the parliamentary constituency of East Delhi which is currently represented by Maheish Girri of the BJP who won the seat by defeating his nearest AAP rival Rajmohan Gandhi by a margin of 1,90,463 votes in the last Lok Sabha elections in 2014. The incumbent Congress MP Sandeep Dikshit slipped into the third position.
