An election involving most constituencies of a state or nation is the choice of candidates. General elections to the first Lok Sabha was held in India between 25 October 1951 and 21 February 1952 since independence. In a parliamentary system, a general election is an election in which most members of a given political body are chosen. The term is usually used to refer to elections held for a nation's primary legislative body

The first general elections, which were conducted for 489 seats in 401 constituencies, represented 26 Indian states. At that time, there were 314 constituencies with one seat, 86 with two seats and one with three seats. In the history of the world the most splendid democratic process is to be followed by the coming months in India. Lok Sabha general election 2014 is probable to be held from April 16 to May 13 in 2014 as 5 to 7 phases
