Jharkhand General Election 2014
Jharkhand is the state where active politics have always been under way right from the heydays, when the state came into existence as the breakaway faction from the erstwhile Bihar, in the year 2000.
There are 14 Lok Sabha Constituencies in Jharkhand. There are five constituencies reserved for Scheduled Tribe and one for the scheduled caste. The constituencies for scheduled tribe are; Dumka, Rajmahal, Lohardaga, Khunti, and Singhbhum. The only constituency that is reserved for the Scheduled caste is Palamu.
The total number of electorate in Jharkhand is 19,948,683, of which 10,508,420 are male voters and 9,440,237 are female voters.
It is also significant to note that Jharkhand has quite a huge number of political parties, compared to UP and Bihar. However, political activists of these parties take a keen interest in the assembly and general elections. Among them JMM is the biggest political party. The most distressing feature here is the number of Independents, who are emerging victorious in the elections.
The long list of parties in Jahrkhand include
Indian National Congress (INC),
Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP),
Communist Party of India (CPI),
Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM),
Janata Dal (United) JD(U),
RashtriyaJanata Dal (RJD),
All India Trinamool Congress (AITC),
Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) (Liberation),
Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha,
Janata Dal (Secular)JD(S),
All India Forward Bloc (Subhasist) AIFB(S),
Indian Justice Party (IJP),
SadanVikas Party (SVKP),
RashtriyaSamanta Dal (RSMD) and the Jharkhand Vikas Dal (JVD)
Out of 14 seats in Jharkhand NDA is headed to get about 6 seats and the UPA will get only 4. That is as per the NDTV Poll.
