Maharashtra General Election 2014

There are forty eight Lok Sabha constituencies in Maharashtra. Among which five are reserved for Schedule castes and four for Schedule Tribes. Nandurbar, Gadchiroli Chimur, Shirdi, Latur and Solapur are the constituencies that are reserved for SCs. The reserved constituencies for STs are Amravati, Ramtek, Dindori and Palghar. There are 78,966,642 voters in Maharashtra, of which 41,841,934 are male voters and 37,124,438 are female voters. This state has one of the lowest numbers of voters under the age of 19 years, which is 11 lakh (1.4%).

The 2014 Lok Sabha election in the state will be held in three phases: 10 April, 17 April, and 24 April.

Opinion Poll conducted by Headlines Today-CVoter gives 14 seats to the BJP, 14 to Shiv Sena, 9 to the Congress party, 5 to NCP, 2 to MNS, 1 to AAP, and 3 to the others. Opinion Poll conducted by CNN-IBN 7 gives BJP and its allies 18-22 seats, Congress and its allies 23-27 seats. Opinion Poll conducted by Lokniti-IBN National Tracker says BJP-Shiv Sena alliance with the Republican Party of India (Athvale) will win 44 per cent votes, while the Congress-NCP alliance may get 35 per cent votes. Raj Thackeray´┐Żs MNS is to get 2 per cent votes while AAP may win 5 per cent votes. The BSP and the others may get 4 per cent and 10 per cent votes respectively. Out of 48 seats in Maharashtra NDA is headed to get about 33 seats and the UPA will get only 12. That is as per the NDTV Poll.
