Nagaland General Election 2014
Nagaland in the north east of India became the 16th state of the Indian Union on 1 December 1963. Nagaland has only one Lok Sabha constituency, having the same name as the state. The total number of voters in Nagaland is 11, 74,633, of which 5, 94,572 are male and 5,80,091 are female. It needs to be mentioned here that voter turnout during the 2009 General Election was 90.26%.
The Indian National Congress (INC) the Nagaland People's Front (NPP) the AITC, the JD(S), and the independents are some of the political parties in Nagaland.
The opinion poll conducted by the Times Now C-Voter and the India TV says that the NPF is likely to regain the lone seat in Nagaland.
Election in Nagaland will be held on 9 April 2014. This is the first time when the VVPAT or Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail will be used in Nagaland.
