Tamil nadu General Election 2014
Tamil Nadu is located in south India and is one of the larger states of the country. The state is the seventh most populous, though it is the eleventh in size.
Tamil Nadu has 39 parliamentary constituencies out of which 7 are reserved for candidates belonging to the scheduled castes.
The total number of electorates in Tamil Nadu is 53,752,682, of which 26,893,009 are male voters and 26,856,677 are females.
There are numerous parties which have dominance in this state that include AIADMK, DMK and Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam, BJP, Indian National Congress, Communist Party of India (CPI) and Communist Party of India (Marxist).
According to opinion polls from news reports, there will be tough competition between AIADMK and DMK and recently new party AAP is gaining popularity.
Opinion polls conducted by CNN IBN 7 says the AIADMK will get 15-23 seats, DMK may bag 7-13 seats, INC may win 1-5 seats and 4-10 seats may be won by Others.
The India TV survey gives 28 seats to AIADMK, 5 to DMK, 1 to Congress, 1 to CPI, 1 to MDMK, 2 to DMDK, and 1 by Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi.
The Headlines Today-CVoter opinion poll says AIADMK may win 29 seats, DMK may get 5 seats, one by DMDK and one each by the INC, CPM, VCK and MDMK.
The BJP has stitched a six-party alliance in the state. The BJP has hemmed the alliance with the DMDK, the MDMK, the PMK and IJK and KMDK. The BJP is contesting on 8 seats, the DMDK on 14, the PMK on 8, the MDMK on 7, and the IJK and the KMDK one seat each.
